This trail offers a wide range of experiences, from tunnel-like forest, to sunny lakeside, to mill town along the Hoosic River. Bumpy at times, the path is paved in its entirety with clear road crossings, multiple bench and table rest areas, and uniform width. The Adams visitor center offers indoor conventional toilets and water bubblers. There are composting toilets available at the Lanesboro start and once more about 1/3 of the way to Adams. You’ll see all sorts of bicycles, runners, walkers, chipmunks, birds, streams and wildflowers. Plan just over an hour for a trip along the entire 10.8 mile trail. The trail is usually close to Rt. 8, road crossings, and even the BRTA #1 bike-accessible bus route at either end and in the middle in Cheshire. On the northern half you will see various restaurant options nearby.
I live a few minutes from this trail and use it quite frequently. It's well maintained and paved. Great views of lakes, marshes, and small towns. There are a couple places to break off the trail and grab a bite to eat or use the restroom. If you are in the Berkshires it's a must see, especially in the fall.
Great place to explore. Scenic lake views, greenery, and a generally nice way to get away from the concrete jungle
Beautiful and well maintained rail trail! You have scenic mountain views and pretty marsh lands. Great place to bike!
Great trail for my 69th birthday. We walked from Adams to Cheshire...5 miles...beautiful little walk.
